The importance of respect.

Ten ways to earn respect.

Respect in our lives is very important and highly needed. Each an everyone of us in the world need to have self respect and to earn respect from other people. Where there is no respect there is no order and where there is no order there is no peace. To have respect is not an option it's a need in order for us to live well and in prosperity. In order for many people from different parts of the world to work and worship together they need to have and show respect to one another.

Respect within the family.

A family's solid foundation should be built on respect. Every family has got its own problems but the only way in which problems can be solved is when there is respect . Respect unfortunately its not something that can be bought over the counter from the nearest shop. When we see a family's relationship getting strong and stronger, what keeps it firmly together is respect and love. Love its not seen and enjoyed where there is no respect. It takes two people with respect towards each other to have a healthy relationship and to build a respectable family . We often here people say charity begins at home, when a child grows up in a family where parents are respecting each other that child will learn to have self respect and continue to respect everybody that they meet in their lives.
Children who grow up in dysfunctional families it is simply because that family particularly lacks respect. Respect is just like love it is a two way street, it has to come from both ways meaning from husband and wife if its in a family. Families have to learn to value respect and teach their kids from an early age not only by talking but by practising it more within the family. Great leaders of our societies have learned to respect people from an early age throughout their lives. I believe many of us know that as a person you don't demand respect, you must earn respect. Young and old whether you are a student,a teacher, parent, leader or an ordinary member of the society you don't just demand respect from other people, we should know and understand that you must earn respect as an individual by your actions and conduct in the society. The civil rights activist Martin Luther king once said he doesn't want his kids to live in a country where they will be charged by the colour of their skin rather they should be charged by the conduct of their character, he was talking about respect towards other people.

Here are the few ways in which one can earn respect.

Self love.

Listen.
Listening is a skill, you may always have something to say but understand that other people's views and opinions are still important to listen to.
Think before you speak.
Don't just open your mouth and speak whenever you feel to. Before you speak ask yourself is it important and relevant.
Help others.
Have a willingness to help other people whenever you can . Help people without an expectation of a reward.
Earn a living.
Cater your own financial needs, being able to take care of yourself financially and provide for your own family will earn you respect from your family and the community as a whole.
Respect others.
Love and respect other people without being pretentious. Even to those who don't, it might be hard at first but if you continue doing it eventually they will return that love and respect that you give them back to you.
Stop complaining.
Sometimes there are things that can provoke us,make us to groan and complain. And often it feels good to complain but avoid complaining too much and unnecessary otherwise you might loose a lot of respect from the people around you.
Have self confidence.
Believe in yourself and in your dreams. Every time you do anything and when you talk do it with confidence and avoid been overconfident.
Be clean and tidy.
Make it your priority to look presentable before go out there to meet people, wear clean clothes and always look tidy. Be well organised in your day to day duties.
Be responsible.
Always take full responsibility of your actions. Never promise something that you can't keep in the end.
Debts.
In this day an age its very difficult to live without debts but making sure that you pay your debts right in time makes people to trust you and give you respect.
Education.
Get yourself proper education if you can from a varsity. If you can't afford to go to varsity that's not the end of the world, you can also read books on your to expand your knowledge.

Remember we all need and deserve respect and we must also respect others without getting respect from the society you will feel useless and unworthy to be living.
